Scott County was founded in 1833 and named for Abram M. Scott, Governor of Mississippi from 1832 to 1833. The county seat is Forest. Located in central Mississippi, Scott County is home to Bienville National Forest and Roosevelt State Park, with plenty of outdoor recreation for residents and visitors alike.
