About the office
The Solid Waste Department oversees residential and commercial garbage collection and disposal for areas outside city limits. Collection is provided by the county's contractor, Meridian Waste.
Collection guidelines
- Collection may begin as early as 6:00 a.m. in warmer months.
- Place garbage in the provided cans, no more than 5 feet from the curbside of the road.

Holidays
Meridian Waste observes New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on or before your collection day that week, collection is one day late. Friday routes affected by a holiday are collected on Saturday.

Appliances and large items
Residents can drop off appliances and other large items at the white goods dumpsters at 13856 Hwy 80 West, Forest, MS 39074, open Friday and Saturday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
